3-ROOM RENTAL: THE GREAT HALL, ISAAC HAYNE ROOM and SCDAR ROOM
It could be said that The Old Exchange has the most beautiful and historically significant meeting spaces available in Charleston. And certainly these three rooms would qualify. The Great Hall, Isaac Hayne Room, and SCDAR Room offer flexible seating and meeting space for a variety of events. From wedding receptions, to club or group luncheons, to corporate meetings and fundraising galas, The Old Exchange is a classic and historically significant backdrop to any event.
We think you’ll be pleased with the way these flexible spaces can enhance your event. We welcome your inquiries about renting at The Old Exchange. Please call during business hours Monday through Friday: (843) 727-2165 or 1-888-763-0448 or email Kathryn Hernandez, Event Coordinator
GREAT HALL (2nd floor)
The Great Hall is the largest of the three rooms, and by far the most elegant. The paneled walls in the Great Hall are painted a soft Blue Heron Gray and 12 white, stately Ionic Columns surround the space. The strikingly beautiful Caribbean Waters blue ceiling creates a special open-air feeling. Two fireplaces with ornate mantels adorn opposite sides of the hall. Picturesque views down historic Broad Street lend a distinctive Charleston flavor.
The Great Hall measures 43’ x 47’ and can accommodate up to 150 people. There is 8 feet of space between each column and 34 inches of space between each column and the wall. An elevator offers easy access for guests, as well as florists, caterers, etc. A modern, commercial kitchen is located convenient to the elevator.
ISAAC HAYNE ROOM (2nd floor)
Adjoining the Great Hall is the Isaac Hayne Room, which is an ideal space for a staging area, additional seating, — or even a string quartet if you prefer. Paint and decor in the Isaac Hayne Room is complementary to the Great Hall.
S.C.D.A.R. ROOM (1st floor)
The S.C.D.A.R. Room is elegantly furnished with colonial green Windsor chairs and settees, as well as a beautifully crafted 10-foot pine table. The walls are a soft Sea Island Gray (same color as in the Great Hall) with woodwork and trim painted white. The floors are dark heart-of-pine. Three large Palladian-style windows allow lots of extra light into the historic space.
The S.C.D.A.R. Room is located on the first floor of the Old Exchange. It measures 26’ x 45’. Due to the fragile nature of the historic collections on display in the S.C.D.A.R. Room, we do not permit dinners, banquets or dancing in that space.
